Results of depression, anxiety and substance abuse
55% of deaths in Guatemala are due to depression, anxiety and substance abuse according to WHO and PAHO statistics (2020). Also Guatemala is in fifth place as the country with the highest prevalence of stress.
Not govermet focus in the mental issues
Due that the Government of Guatemala does not invest in this issue, evidenced in the last report on the mental health system in Guatemala that was conducted in 2011, it indicates that less than 1% of health care expenses of the government’s budget is directed to mental health.

And one of the biggest problems we have in Guatemala due to the lack to the lack of education and opportunities is Migration. The Institute of Migration indicates that guatemalans living without documents in the US increased % from 1990 to 2021 (wich means that there are xxx living iligally)
